International Firefighters’ Weekend: Inside Look with Chief Anthony Kelleher

A conversation between Jonathan Tate, Washington DC firefighter and founder of Food on the Stove, and Anthony Kelleher, Deputy Fire Chief, DC Fire and EMS.

In his two-plus decades of experience as a firefighter and instructor, Chief Kelleher has come to believe that history is one of the greatest educators. By highlighting the many sacrifices made by previous generations, instructors can empower up-and-coming recruits to learn from those who have come before them.

This Equipped Talk is a special preview of International Firefighters’ Weekend, hosted May 4-6 by D.C. nonprofit Food on the Stove, which is dedicated to equipping firefighters with skills to build and maintain healthy lifestyles. During the event’s May 4 Health & Training seminar, Chief Kelleher will deliver a presentation called “Attention to Detail – A Blueprint to Fire Service Efficiency,” in which he outlines a step-by-step process for battling complacency and building proficiency through efficiency.
