First Responder Performance Nutrition

First responders are tactical athletes facing daily heightened levels of job-related mental and physical stress. They are expected to be high performing individuals, navigate life or death decisions, and manage extreme trauma in highly unpredictable environments. Additionally, other inherent risk factors, including cardiac disease, cancer, suicide, orthopedic injuries and post-traumatic stress, need to be managed throughout a career. This First Responder Performance Nutrition class by Maureen Stoecklein, firefighter/paramedic/registered dietitian for the Canton Township Fire Department, offers a comprehensive yet simple approach to meeting the unique nutrition demands of first responders.
